As the show gets ever nearer, the level of excitement and buzz around the event is growing.
Last week, Steve McKenzie called in to Peter Lucas Tool Hire in Llandudno and caught up with Peter’s son James (pictured below). The company have been regular show visitors for many years.
James is looking forward to this year’s event and had a close look at the floor plan to make a mental note of several of the stands that he intends to visit. We always point out the smaller stands around the edge of the main hall, as quite often they may have some innovative niche products that could present hirers with fresh opportunities to generate new income.
James commented, “Last year we got some great deals and made some genuine savings, one of which was a rotovator from Camon Tracmaster. We also bolstered our stocks of aluminium access products with a ‘show only deal’ from Paul Ludlow at Eurotowers!”
On Friday, I called in to Hodgson Tool Hire in Burscough, where I caught up with M.D Mike Hodgson and Depot Manager, Kevin Hilton (pictured below). The company has a second depot in Ainsdale near Southport, which is run by Mike’s son Callum, who will be attending the show with Kevin.

I took a picture of Kevin while he was browsing the show leaflet and floor plan, and he was impressed with the numerous new exhibitors this year. Kevin said that at the last show, they made a couple of impulse purchases that have turned out to be great additions to their hire fleet.
He commented, “We bought a Petrol Post Driver from Westermann UK, and one of their Weed & Moss Brushes, and based on their success, we have since added more to our hire fleet to keep up with the demand. This just shows the opportunities that hirers can get from attending the show. We also purchased some pressure washers from Brendon Powerwashers, mixers from Belle and a diamond core drill from Refina/Eibenstock. Our biggest purchase at the show was a Hamm Tandem Vibrating Roller from Wirtgen, which has been another great addition to our fleet and broadened our range!”
