ArcGen Hilta branches out at the Show

1st February 2010

ArcGen Hilta will be supporting the 200-acre National Forest for the second consecutive year at the Executive Hire Show this week. The manufacturer is exhibiting on stand B80 at the Show, being held on Wednesday and Thursday (3 and 4 February) at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, and is pledging to donate a tree for every order taken during the event, to offset some of the carbon footprint used in the manufacture and subsequent use of the machines.

The company is unveiling several additions to its range at the Show, including the new EcoWeld 300, a 300A constant current/constant voltage diesel welder generator. It has the ability to start and stop automatically, so when an operator has finished using the machine it will shut itself down. To start, the user simply touches a welding rod on the workpiece, or switches on a tool connected to the power outlets.

The machine features a dual operator welder function. This allows two people to weld simultaneously from the one machine, up to 180A with 4mm electrodes. The EcoWeld 300 is one of nine Finalists in the Energy Zone at the Show, highlighting products designed for environmental awareness and energy efficiency.

The company is also launching the Rehm range of welding and cutting equipment. The stand will feature the Tiger Tig welding machine, designed for a high power to weight ratio. ArcGen Hilta Chief Executive, Mark Hodgkins, pictured with the EcoWeld 300, says, "We are really looking forward to this year’s Show, which will give us fantastic opportunity to showcase our extensive range of other products and services, including welders, lighting towers, pumps, pressure washers and messaging boards."

A great deal at the Show

29th January 2010

One of the most compelling reasons for visiting the Executive Hire Show next week is the chance it gives hirers to benefit from genuine equipment deals. The exhibition takes place on 3 and 4 February at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

The Hire Supply Company (HSC) will be offering Show-only deals on core products during both days. Four new additions to the range will be launched, one a specialist machine for the flood restoration market, while the others complement the established HSC line-up. The stand will also include a competition area where customers will have the opportunity to win up to £1,000 of equipment of their choice in a game of chance.

Sumner Manufacturing will give all visitors to its stand a 10% discount voucher, redeemable until 31 May, against the purchase of any of its lifts, accessories and material handling carts. Included in the stand display will be the recently launched model 2412 material lift. Rated at 180kg maximum load up to a height of 4m, the compact product is ideal for tradesmen working in areas with limited access.

Camon Tracmaster promises special Show-only offers across its entire range of gardening and landscaping machinery. New on the stand will be a compact rock crusher together with a spring-tined lawn rake. Camon will also hold a prize draw to win a hot air balloon flight.

Demon International will give visitors the opportunity to purchase its latest pressure washer models at special Show-only prices. Prominent in its display will be the new Storm 500, a 7000psi electric high-pressure jetter that service staff can use for cleaning concrete mixers and other equipment quickly. Also on show will be the Tornado Mini-Bowser, a small portable machine with a 150-litre capacity.

Midland Power Machinery, erento and Timberwolf are amongst other exhibitors with exclusive special offers to hirers visiting their stands. So make sure you don’t miss out on a good deal - register for the Show now.

Show is the launching pad

28th January 2010

Many exhibitors at next week’s Executive Hire Show have chosen the event as the ideal place to launch their latest products for the hire industry. The exhibition, being held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 3 and 4 February, gives hirers the perfect opportunity to see new equipment and identify new revenue streams.

Amongst the many well-known suppliers at the Show, Youngman Group will announce its entry into the lighting tower market, with the launch of Ecolite, a two-model range. The Ecolite T and P combine energy efficient lighting with patented prismatic lenses to produce light free from glare, and the power units are claimed to offer considerable fuel savings. The Ecolite T is a braked, trailer-mounted model, while the Ecolite P is housed in a 1.2m by 1.2m insulated steel casing for use at locations where security is an issue.

New from Wacker Neuson is the 2404 mini excavator, receiving its UK debut. It will be shown fitted with the company’s Vertical Digging System for enhanced performance on uneven terrain, plus a re-designed cab for improved access and visibility.

DeWalt’s main launch will be a range of low-vibration 6kg SDS-Max hammers. They are lighter, more powerful, and easier to service due to a newly designed oil bath gearbox and chain drive. Two new low-vibration 2kg SDS-Plus hammers will be unveiled, one having an in-line design, while the other has an ergonomic L-shaped configuration.

Now part of the Altrad Group (Baromix), Belle will launch new and improved high-performance plate compactors and a new trench rammer. Modifications to benefit hirers and end users have been incorporated into a new range of hydraulic packs and breakers, and Belle and Baromix mixers will be exhibited side by side for the first time. The Façade and Plettac multi-directional scaffolding products from Altrad will also be displayed.

Brand new from Power Towers, which is sharing a stand with its hire industry distributor Red Band UK, is the Nano SP, a self-propelled version of the push-around Nano model. Weighing 460kg, it offers a 2.5m maximum platform height and has an entry step level height of only 390mm.

Many exhibitors are taking a stand at the Show for the first time. RentalSpec Products will highlight its Smart Trolley, which enables the weight of a breaker to be fully supported in operation, thus eliminating HAV risks and reducing manual handling issues.

Also making its debut is the Cawdell Group, which will introduce its new Sutbusta exhaust purification device. It is a self-contained diesel particulate filter, combined with an oxidation catalyst, claimed to reduce soot and other particulates by 90%, and noxious gases by 80%, allowing machines to operate safely in confined areas.

Visitors can also benefit from a free HAE Business Improvement Surgery, where advisors will offer guidance on management issues between 11am and 2pm on both Show days. Hirers can get tips on how to prepare for the upturn, promotional opportunities, insurance, sources of finance, environmental responsibilities, training and other key topics. To book a 20-minute appointment, call Gill Bridger on 0121 380 4619, or see an HAE stand representative at the Show before 10.30.

With many innovative suppliers and a host of new products on display, the Executive Hire Show is the ideal place to see all the latest equipment and opportunities, enabling hirers to look ahead positively to the year ahead.

Register now for the UK’s only plant and tool show before the summer

18 January 2010

SED 2010 has been cancelled. The organiser says that current economic climate and uncertainty in the market has led to the decision to postpone the event, which had been planned for 18-20 May.

Tim Porter, Head of Sales at SED's owner, Reed Business Information, says the exhibition has been re-scheduled for 17-19 May 2011, from which point it is planned to continue as an annual event, at its Rockingham Motor Speedway location near Corby, Northamptonshire.

To register for the Executive Hire Show, which has, by default, become the UK’s only plant and tool show before the summer, please click here.

Feed your passion at the Show

4 January 2010

Hirers can get their visit to the Executive Hire Show off to flying start courtesy of Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power, since the engine manufacturer is sponsoring the Show breakfast area near the hall entrance. Visitors will receive a special Vanguard Voucher on registration, entitling them to one free breakfast at the designated Briggs Breakfast Bap zone.

Briggs & Stratton are just one of the many suppliers who will be launching important new products at the Show, including an innovative range of single cylinder Vanguard engines incorporating several exclusive performance innovations. Paul Bramhall, Senior Product Category Manager, says, “By listening to our customers and working with OEMs, we have developed an engine series that will raise the standard of dependability in the toughest job sites.”

Access equipment specialist, Euro Towers, will launch its Eurolift compact push-around scissor lift, which can fit through standard doorways and has a low platform entry point. The UK-manufactured product has an integral toe board and incorporates an automatic braking system. It has a powder coated finish and can be supplied with personalised branding. MD Roger Verallo told EHN, “We have taken a larger stand at the 2010 Show to demonstrate our confidence about the year ahead, and to support the event which, in turn, supports our industry.”

Included in the display from Lyte Ladders & Towers will be the new StairLyte stairway tower, which has been developed in response to specific market demands. Other established products for safe work at height will be shown by the company, including the Helix Industrial tower, the Lyte Industrial Folding Tower (LIFT) system, podium steps, and extension and stepladders.

Of particular interest to hirers offering compact plant, and being seen for the very first time in the UK, will be Takeuchi’s new TB219 mini excavator, designed for grave-digging and deep utilities ground work. The machine, which will be available in the spring, features an extended boom arm that works to a dig depth up to 2520mm and offers 4280mm of ground reach. The machine weighs 1870kg with a canopy, or 1995kg with a cab, and the tracks extend from 980-1370mm for extra stability.

Atlantic Coast Studios’ customers include more than 200 hire businesses. The supplier will showcase its dedicated ranges of stickers, labels and signage materials, including a new ‘eco’ offering. Stickers are printed using durable inks to ensure that, when equipment is out on hire, people will instantly know who supplied it.

These are just some of the many new products on offer from exhibitors at the Show, which will enable hirers to see what they should add to their fleets to ensure a positive start to 2010.

4 December 2009

As we get ever nearer to the Executive Hire Show, the team has covered a staggering 6,017 miles to encourage 174 passionate hirers to visit the Show on 3 and 4 February 2010.

Steve McKenzie, Show Visitor Campaign Manager, who has undertaken the majority of the visits, reports very positive feedback. He says, "Buoyed by the fact that pre-registered visitor numbers are already up on the same period last year, we have redoubled our efforts to visit as many hirers as possible to tell them all about EHS 2010.

"Last week, in addition to my own visits, I was joined by our Events Manager, Alex Brain who visited Devon and Cornwall. Our Group Sales Manager, Nigel Carter visited Nottingham, Essex and East Anglia. And last, but not least our Editor, Alan Guthrie visited a number of hirers based around the Scottish borders. We are all really fired up about next year’s Show and no stone is being left unturned to deliver a first class event to both visitors and exhibitors."

You can read all about our visits on Steve’s Show Diary page.

Swinging into action

2 November 2009

News about the Executive Hire Show is spreading even faster now. Initiatives are swinging into action to promote the unmissable event to more and more passionate hirers and innovative suppliers.

Irrepressible Show Visitor Campaign Manager, Steve McKenzie, is once again visiting passionate hirers the length and breadth of the country, spreading the word about the exhibition. “I have already visited over 80 independent hirers and covered more than 2,000 miles. As I show them the floor plan, they are delighted to see that so many of the suppliers they deal with have taken a stand.

“Obviously, time is a precious commodity, but a day spent visiting the Show, where hirers can see so many companies in one place, is a great opportunity to find out what’s new and to explore additional revenue streams.” Arrive before noon either day and you can get a free breakfast roll, this year sponsored by Briggs and Stratton Commercial Power. You can follow Steve via his Show Diary on the web site - and hirers can contact him to find out when he’ll be in their area.

The steadily growing number of exhibitors - currently totalling 74  - are now receiving their marketing packs, including eye-catching mailers to send to their customers, together with Show stickers to add to letters and invoices, plus promotional flashes to add to their own advertising and publicity material.

This will soon be followed by co-ordinated fax and e-mail campaigns, bringing the Show to the attention of literally thousands of industry professionals. And with Registration now fully open, hirers can ensure their participation in their industry’s show of choice.

All exhibitors will soon be receiving their Exhibitor Manual that details everything they need to ensure a smooth-running and successful Show experience. More exhibitors are constantly signing up, with the latest additions to the floor plan including Takeuchi, Demon International, Fairport Construction Equipment, JSP and Reactec.

We are also hearing of more new products that will be unveiled at the Show. Ashtree Glass will exhibit a new range of universal mirrors for plant and machinery, incorporating glass or long-life plastic lenses. They are designed to enable hirers to run on one standard mirror that fits all arm sizes.

GreenMech’s display will include its new Quad-Chip 150 chipper, which has a maximum infeed capacity of 150mm. Its integral turntable enables optimum chute positioning for convenient access in confined spaces and for roadside working.

Other exhibitors promising new launches include the Hire Supply Company, DeWalt and r2 Access Platforms. Details are still being kept under wraps - so keep watching this space for more information about these, and other exciting developments.

New floorplan and new product launches for EHS 2010

15 October 2009

The Executive Hire Show team have been busy liaising with our exhibitors to put together our latest, bang-up-to-date floor plan, which you can download via the menu on the left. With 73% of stand space sold, plus several provisional bookings simply awaiting the green light, 13 of these companies were not at the 2009 Show and 14 others have requested bigger stands because they have so much to show. If you’re an innovative supplier to the hire industry and would like to exhibit to hundreds of passionate hire professionals at the Show on 3 and 4 February 2010, please get in touch as soon as you can.

It is already obvious that manufacturers and suppliers are again choosing the Executive Hire Show as our industry’s launching pad for new machinery and equipment.

Set to receive its UK launch on the Wacker Neuson stand is the company’s new 2404 mini excavator, which has an operating weight of 2312kg with canopy and 2410kg with cab. Filling a gap in the range between the existing 2 tonne 2003 and the 2.7 tonne 2503 models, it a utilises a modified superstructure from the 2003 excavator together with a completely redesigned cab. The machine can also be supplied with the manufacturer’s Vertical Digging System, which levels up the slewing superstructure to allow safer operation on slopes such as motorway embankments.

Bobcat’s exhibition line-up will also include new mini excavators, in the shape of two new additions to its E series. The E14, which replaces the 319 model, weighs 1303kg when supplied with a ROPS/TOPS canopy and has a hydraulically extending undercarriage that increases width from 980-1330mm. The E16 model is available either with a fixed 980mm wide base, or with an undercarriage that extends hydraulically between 980-1360mm. The two variants weigh 1515 and 1555kg respectively.

JCB will highlight its smallest ever Loadall telescopic handler, namely the new 515-40 Miniscopic. Its overall height can be as low as 1800mm, facilitating work in areas with height restrictions. The 50hp machine can lift up to 1500kg, offers a maximum lift height of 4045mm and weighs 3480kg.

Following its acquisition by French-based Altrad, Belle will promote several new Altrad products that it is now introducing into the UK. These include the Façade modular scaffolding system, which offers the ability to construct safety rails on higher levels before climbing the ladder and entering through the internal safety door.

Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power will unveil a new line of single cylinder Vanguard engines. They feature several new technologies developed following research amongst customers in the hire industry, and close collaboration with construction equipment manufacturers. They are designed to deliver exceptional reliability and durability, and to help reduce equipment down time and operating costs.

Kick Off meeting 2010

21 September 2009

More than 60 existing, new and potential exhibitors were present at the Ricoh Arena last Friday, 18 September, at the Kick Off Meeting of the 2010 Executive Hire Show.

In addition to exhibitors, a number of leading national and independent hirers also attended to confirm their support for the Show.

The Executive Hire Show Team explained that interest and bookings were rapidly gaining momentum, and presented the first Floor Plan of the 2010 event, which shows that more than 60% of the stand space is now confirmed.

A major new initiative for 2010 is the Energy Zone, which is sponsored by Speedy Hire. The Zone will highlight new products and services launched by Show exhibitors which promote optimal utilisation of equipment and resources, through enabling better management of fuel and natural materials, encouraging recycling and reducing waste, lowering noise and vibration, and enhancing product lifecycles, to achieve higher standards of environmental integrity.

It was also announced that Executive Hire News, the Passionate Voice of the Hire Industry, has bought the assets of PHE Plant Hire Executive, the long-established monthly magazine serving the plant hire industry. The initial intention is to quickly identify a number of construction plant hirers that can be added to the EHN circulation. By increasing EHN’s circulation with further relevant hirers, this will help ensure continued quality visitors attend the 2010 Show.
