DURO, supply diamond cutting blades and tools to the hire, building and construction markets, this will be the company’s 5th appearance at the Executive Hire Show.

According to the company, along with its manufacturing plant partner, they have developed the safest diamond blade available on the market today – a very big statement to make – but Duro assured the EHS team that it’s true. DURO’s Scott Devonshire said, “It is perhaps one of the most important developments in diamond blade technology since they were invented and in these times of safety awareness and legislation – a timely one.”

New Diamond Blade from Duro is ultra safe.

Devonshire continued, “If you bear in mind that a diamond blade rotates at speeds of 220 mph – losing one of the segments from that blade is like shooting a bullet from a gun. The new HDF technology that we have developed ensures that the weld which adheres the diamond segment to the core is the strongest ever developed. It is due to near zero porosity being present in both the segment and the weld. The lack of ‘air pockets’ means that this process has created an incredibly strong cutting area. Balfour Beatty insists on all of their operators using these blades. With other utility companies looking to follow suit.”

The new HDF technology range of diamond blades draws from the critical car component manufacturing industry. HDF (High Density Forged) provides a product with much greater stability, safety and higher performance than traditional diamond blades and have already secured major contracts in the UK.

The DURO HDF process, instead of the diamond segments being sintered slowly in a tunnel furnace, like all other diamond segments manufactured throughout the world, HDF segments are simultaneously heated to very high temperatures and pressed to form a complete diamond segment within seconds, before being laser welded to the steel core.
