Passionate Hirer Awards 2015 Winners
The Passionate Hirer Awards were presented during the first part of the Executive Hire Party. A shortlist of seven hirers were nominated from 824 depots throughout the UK and Ireland that members of the Show Team visited in the lead-up to the exhibition.
Following 'mystery shopper' visits and calls to their depots, Finalists were assessed under a broad range of criteria including: presentation and functionality of premises; staff enthusiasm and competence; efficiency in handling enquiries and orders; quality of products and delivery vehicles; and innovation in offering a wide range of equipment and exploring new opportunities.
The quality of the companies' printed promotional materials and website was also assessed, along with feedback from customers and suppliers.
The Winner in the Small to Medium Hire Centre category, achieving 60 points out of a possible 70, was Wright Hire of Marple, near Stockport, a well-established family business hiring a wide range of tools, light plant and equipment. The Awards Judges commented that "Wright Hire have built a sound reputation for equipment quality and service to their customers. They are an excellent example of a family run hire business that was established in the early days of the tool hire boom and has remained committed to the core values of our industry. The hire fleet is backed by extensive in-house works and service facilities, and staff exhibit a high level of commitment to the hire industry."

Achieving 57 points, the Winner in the Large Hire 'Super Centre' category was Griffiths Hire Shops' Oswestry depot, which offers an extensive inventory of tools and small plant, and serves a diverse community in a predominately rural area, spanning both sides of the Welsh border.
The Judges found "a high level of customer satisfaction and knowledgeable staff at Griffiths Hire Shops. Equipment presentation is to a consistently high standard and ancillary services, such as customer repairs and consumable sales, ensure this hirer is a genuine one-stop-shop that saves customers time and money."
